The Village: Gallician

The Village of Gallician is situated between Montpellier and Nimes in the heart of the Petit Camargue. An ideal base from which to explore the natural beauty of this unique region and experience its traditional festivals. The canal de Rhone a Sete is on the outskirts of the village, barges and boats leave from nearby Aigues Mortes on excursions throughout the Camargue. You can visit a 'manade' where bulls are reared and watch the cowboys show off their skills. The natural parkland is home to pink flamingos and a host of wildlife including the famous white horses. Horseback riding available locally along with a host of well marked cycling or walking paths.

The village has a choice of cafes and restaurants as well as a grocer and boulangerie with a far larger selection in the neighbouring town of Vauvert. The village is well known for its wine in particular the famous 'Costieres de Nimes' and you will find many opportunities to taste and buy, in particular at Mas du Notaire which has a wide range of fine wines.

The Provencal towns of Arles and Avignon are within an easy drive and Nimes provides excellent shopping along with its Roman Arena where concerts are held during the summer months. The medieval town of Aigues Morte is not to be missed along with a visit to its famous salt producers.

Vast sandy beaches are close by at Sainte Marie de La Mer and Grau de Roi.
